For nearly a decade I worked as a manager in the corporate business world. Even though I was very good at what I did, I realized that my passion lay in helping people overcome the challenges they face. Through my education in psychology, learning about self-care, and receiving support from friends and colleagues, I had a light bulb moment where I realized that health and wellness were top priorities for me. I rose to the opportunity of facing my own fears and limitations. This meant returning to school while still maintaining quality time with the important people in my life. As I believe that wellness requires a focus on both our mental and physical selves, I also worked through some enduring injuries to rediscover my joy for running and strength training. This journey to wellness has only further impassioned me to help others achieve their own sense of wellbeing.
As a Counselling Therapist, I work with adults and older teens, including individuals and couples, who feel overwhelmed with stress or anxiety, are lacking motivation, and perhaps even feel stuck and are not sure where to turn for support. Many of my clients have experienced anxiety, depression or issues in their relationships. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them identify the issues and areas that are keeping them stuck. Considering your unique needs and goals, we will create a plan to help you recover feelings of wellbeing and wholeness, and feel more fulfilled in your life.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. From 2005 – 2007 I worked as a Behavioural Therapist for children with autism, and prior to 2005 as a Youth Care Worker in the province of Newfoundland.
I am currently accepting clients in private practice. I am trained in mental health first aid and use an integrative approach, including narrative and solution-focused therapies.
